House boat

Well its still raining here, I'm pretty sure the duck pen is going to float away soon. I had to cancel the fireworks last night I'd planned for the ducks as it was far too rainy. I purchased them a can of corn as a celebratory meal for the babies but I forgot to give it too them.

On the positive side is that there have been no snakes due to the rain so we've still got 7 baby chicks. That black hen doesn't let Lucille 2 hang out with her during the day, but at night lets her huddle in under her wing.

Good to see your 7 babies are still okay.

We lost one of our ducklings this morning :( He was there at 5.30am and by the time I woke up again at 11.30, he was gone. His brothers and sisters are all present and accounted for. I'm completely bummed.

I don't know how you cope with SnakeFest. I don't think our culprit was a snake though.

I'll have to send you a pic. They're growing so fast. So far as we can tell, none of them have twisted wing but John and I are keeping a close eye on the little darlings. Fingers crossed.

Well that sucks, please send me photos. I want to see babies.
Perhaps it was a bird - kookaburras or magpies often take our baby chickens.
