We had our first little photo shoot today and the chicks were like a duck to water. Speedy is a natural, of course. Speedy appears to have 5 chicks - 3 black and 2 brown. The other hen has about 6. I found a chick that was still chirping in an egg and tried to give it to the other crazy hen, thinking that maybe she'd take it and claim it as he own but instead she just killed it. So now tomorrow I have to go and move this little chicken from crazy ladies nest. I'm not sure what happened to the eggs we gave her to sit on, when I checked the other day she only had one left. Crazy hen has been sitting for months now.

You gave a baby chick to the crazy hen? That's like taking a butterfly, sticking it into a web and going "heeeeere spidey spidey!"... Speedy's babes look adorable. Can't wait to find out their names.
Yep there was blood everwhere. It was sometime around when I saw all the blood that I thought. "I've really fucked with nature; that chicken was obviously rejected for a reason. I shouldn't have done that". Poor crazy hen, I think I made her more crazy.
And you know the worst thing? I still haven't gone and removed the dead chicken.
I won't tell PETA on you this time. You should get someone else to clean up the mess. I have someone in mind :)
You'll be pleased to know that Crazy hen got off her nest to eat some food this morning so I moved the little chicken then. I think the chicken was going to die anyway, Crazy chicken just did it a little faster.
I even tried to give Crazy hen more eggs to hatch but she just pecked my arm; then I realised that she would just crack the eggs.
